Biden once denied knowledge of Hunter’s business dealings; now, he’s certain they were not illegal

While campaigning for president, Joe Biden claimed he did not know anything about his son Hunter’s international business dealings. He repeatedly denied ever talking to his son about such issues. For example, at a campaign event in Iowa in 2019, Fox News’s Peter Doocy asked Biden about any conversations he had with his son about business. Biden stated such conversations never happened.

“How many times have you spoken to your son about his overseas business dealings?” Doocy asked Biden. “I have never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings,” Biden replied. Biden even scolded Doocy for asking such a question.

However, it appears Doocy was asking the right questions all along. Biden just wasn’t giving honest answers.

If Biden did not know about his dealings, then how is he able to claim now, as his White House is doing despite abundant evidence to the contrary, that nothing Hunter did was unlawful? He cannot seem to keep his story straight.

Consider the recent discovery that a Chinese energy company paid Hunter Biden and the president’s brother James $4.8 million. Additionally, it was previously reported that Hunter Biden was paid $50,000 a month by the Ukrainian energy company Burisma. These are extraordinarily high salaries, especially for someone who does not have any legitimate energy background or experience in anything — other than being the son of a senator, vice president, and president.

“Of course the president’s confident that his son didn’t break the law,” Ron Klain, White House chief of staff, said Sunday on “This Week” in an interview with George Stephanopoulos. And when pressed on the issue of Hunter’s high salaries, Klain responded with the typical deflection and spin.

“The president is confident that his family did the right thing,” Klain said. “But again, I want to just be really clear. These are actions by Hunter and his brother. They’re private matters. They don’t involve the president, and they certainly are something that no one at the White House is involved in.”

But they do involve the president, if his family was cashing in on his service and their access to him. And Biden’s inconsistent story suggests that there is more to his knowledge of Hunter’s dealings. Perhaps he did not want to admit that he knew more about Hunter’s shady dealings than he was letting on. Or maybe it’s now that his answer is false. It’s quite wearying, coming from a politician who campaigned on being honest with the public.
