What is the Internet of Things (IoT)?
[ad_1]
The Internet of Things (IoT) is described as physical objects or “things” equipped with sensors, processing ability, software, and other technologies that connect and exchange data with other devices and systems over the Internet or other communications networks. Now in simpler terms Internet of Things (IoT) is physical things like a phone or car that features sensors and processing abilities which connects to Internet. This enables users to control the start of your car and set the temperature from anywhere. Users can also schedule and automatic, like when their car should start to warm up in the morning.
Why should I care about Internet of Things (IoT)?
The Internet of Things (IoT) is the next wave of the rapid advancements in technology. According to an article for Oracle more than 7 billion devices are connected to IoT today. Experts have estimated the number will grow to 22 billion by 2025. Common things we do everyday are because of Internet of Things (IoT) that we do not know about. They can be simple everyday tasks or all the way to large and vital tasks that keep the world safe.
Examples of small tasks include manual things we do with our phone or audio devices. Such as telling Alexa or Siri to turn off the lights or television. They can be automated things, so we never have to think and worry about like the automatic setting within our air conditioning/ heating unit to turn on and off based on the temperature in the room. Large and complex tasks that utilize Internet of Things (IoT) include sensors on manufacturing line to alert the team about an issue on the line or radars systems that alert us about the weathers and potential dangers like flash floods or tornadoes.
What are the benefits of Internet of Things (IoT)?
The main benefit we should all be thankful for is the Internet of Things (IoT) makes our lives easier. The Internet of Things (IoT) saves us valuable time and energy. Comforts like waking up to an already brewed cup of coffee or coming home to a clean house thanks to your robot vacuum are all luxuries thanks to Internet of Things (IoT). The benefits do not only include prescheduled and automated tasks. Internet of Things allows us to do tasks in real time such as remotely speak to people at the front door or check on our pets and feed them a treat for behaving well.
Other key benefits include saving money and helping us become more environmentally friendly world. Who does not like to save money? IoT helps us save money at home with sensors that turn off electronics that have not been used after a certain time. In business IoT helps save companies time and money. Why should we care about how companies save money? Keep in mind the savings are pasted down to you.
The Internet of Things (IoT) is not a fab or trend that will disappear after a while. IoT the generation of technology and is here to stay. Imagine life without all the fine luxuries we have thanks to IoT and now imagine all the countless ways we can use IoT to further improve our lives.
